Instant Messaging Server®
The LZT Instant Messaging Server® delivers an unprecedented level of functionality and performance for enterprise wide communications by delivering secure, federated, instant messaging (IM) services.
The Instant Messaging Server® uses the XMPP protocol (also known as Jabber) the leading open standard for presence and real-time messaging. Since 2004, it's been an approved standard of the IETF (the same organization that standardized email and World Wide Web protocols). Today, XMPP is used by leading companies, millions of users worldwide and is the best choice for open real-time communications and collaboration.
IDC estimates that enterprise IM will grow from 40 million users today to more than 140 million by 2009, making it the fastest growing communications medium of all time and an INT Media Research report found that 81% of companies that are using IM say their employees are more productive. The study also found that email traffic was reduced by up to 40% and overall voice mail was down 10%.
Features:
Archiving
- Archive messages to a database and find message content by users, date range, and keywords.
- Search through the conversation archives quickly by user, date range and content.
- Understand IM usage patterns without invading user privacy by using the lightweight archiving mode to record information about conversations the actual message content.
- Compliance with HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other statutory regulations.
Public Gateways
- Maintain full archiving and control of the IM Server while chatting with members of Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, and MSN using Spark* or any other XMPP client that supports gateways.
- All supported gateways are bundled into a single plugin that can be configured easily inside the server admin console.
- Control which users and groups can connect to each public network with fine-grained permissions through the administration console.
VOIP
- Unify voice, text, presence and file transfer with an integrated soft phone such as Spark*. Only available on Windows and Mac OS X.
- Centrally manage soft phone provisioning using an intuitive web-based interface. End users don't need to configure anything since all configuration is controlled at the server.
- Automatically update presence based on the user's phone status so others know whether they are on the phone.
- Integrate with your existing phone system using the SIP protocol.
- Calls are as quick and easy to start as chats.
Presence
- Know when your contacts are available and get critical questions answered faster. Manage your own presence to let others know when you can't be interrupted.
- Automatically update presence when a user is on the phone. Phone integration is enabled via the Asterisk IM plugin or the SIP softphone module.
Security
- Strong security is built-in at the protocol level since XMPP traffic is encrypted using industrial-strength TLS (SSL).
- Identity is carefully controlled by the XMPP protocol which makes it much harder for Spammers to infiltrate your network.
- Flexible Authentication.
- Users authenticate to the server using secure passwords, or the IM Server can use your existing authentication system, such as Active Directory.
- Control who your users can and can't talk to with several federation options 1) An isolated, secure environment for only your users 2) a hybrid network with connections for trusted partners and customers and 3) as part of the world-wide federated IM network, but with all the security and identity protection built-in to the XMPP protocol.
- Simplified SSL certificate installation makes it easy for administrators to provide robust security with built-in certificate generation and testing.
Scalability
- Scale to tens of thousands of concurrent connections per instance while maintaining a light-weight footprint for smaller deployments.
- Distribute client connections across several connection managers to free up your server resources.
- Advanced caching and packet routing logic are optimized for high performance in the IM Server’s server-side Java architecture.
